45 Local Council 1 bosses in Lamwo are unopposed

LAMWO - A total of 45 nominated candidates for local council one (L.C 1) in Lamwo district have booked their seats after they were nominated unopposed.

Among these are: 12 from Lokung sub-county, nine from Palabek Nyimur sub-county, nine from Aceba sub-county, eight from Palabek Ogili sub-county, four from Padibe Town Council and three from Lamwo Town Council.

Lamwo District has 524 villages (Local Council I areas) across its 19 sub-counties and four town councils with 1256 candidates nominated for L.C 1 elections.

Last week ( July 15-19th)  the Uganda Electoral Commission (EC) held the nomination of candidates for local council elections, which are scheduled to take place on July 28, 2026.

Rebecca Nandutu, the Electoral Commission for Lamwo district, said they will not hold elections in the 45 villages where their candidates are nominated unopposed.

She said these candidates will only wait to be sworn in to start their work after the election.

Nandutu said the campaign for nominated candidates kicked off on July 20, 2026 and will end on July 27, 2026.

She cautions the candidates to observe the laws and guidelines, saying they should not campaign at night, but stop their campaign at 6pm.

Nandutu warns candidates not to campaign on the polling day, which is on July 28, 2026.
