The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4th Infantry Division commander, Major General Felix Busizoori, has urged troops to maintain discipline and live within their means as Uganda approaches the 2026 General Elections.
During a routine barracks sensitisation at the division headquarters in Gulu, Maj Gen Busizoori on Thursday warned that anyone attempting to undermine the electoral process would face legal action.
Busizoori further cautioned against indiscipline, alcohol abuse, and behaviours that could compromise military service or social standing.

A statement from the Directorate of Communications of the Ministry of Defence and Veterans' Affairs (MODVA) indicates that the division commander advised soldiers to avoid luxurious lifestyles and to focus on prudent living.
He encouraged the troops to invest in resources such as livestock and other ventures to support themselves after retirement and to foster family connections by visiting ancestral homes with their spouses.
The lecture was also attended by Brigadier Paul Muwonge, the Deputy Division Commander, departmental heads, and staff officers.
The Electoral Commission appointed Thursday, 15th January 2026, as the polling date for both Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
Currently, eight Presidential candidates, including the incumbent Yoweri Museveni, are traversing the country soliciting votes from the masses.
