Why Kyagulanyi Moroto campaign venue was changed

Reports reaching New Vision Online indicate that the development follows the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) occupying the ground at Naitakwae village, some four kilometres outside Moroto town.

Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi's campaign venue in Moroto municipality has Tuesday, January 6, 2026, been shifted to Nadunget town council.

Reports reaching New Vision Online indicate that the development follows the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) occupying the ground at Naitakwae village, some four kilometres outside Moroto town.

According to 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson, Maj. Godfrey Kashaka, the army booked the grounds last year in December and that they were not aware of the NUP activities on January 6.

So far, security forces have also been deployed along the entry routes to Moroto town.

Kyagulanyi is scheduled to enter Moroto town using Kitale road, from the Uganda-Kenya border making stopovers at several urbanised areas. Thereafter, towards the end of the day, he will exit using the Moroto-Soroti road.

Kyagulanyi is expected to also make stops in Napak district on his way to Teso.
