2026 Elections: Prime Minister Nabbanja, Minister Byamukama nominated

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has been nominated to run for the 2026-2031 parliamentary elections.

Early Wednesday, Nabbanja arrived at the electoral commission offices at 8:50am aboard a private number plate vehicle, Reg. Number UBM 921A Mercedes-Benz.

She was accompanied by Venercious Turyomunsi, as the proposer and Naggawa Philly Mbazira as the seconder, among other supporters.

After examining the nomination papers, the returning officer for Kakumiro district, Honest Baguma, declared Nabbanja as a duly nominated candidate for the Kakumiro district woman MP seat as the NRM flag bearer.

Nabbanja, after being nominated, lauded the people of Kakumiro for the unwavering support since 2011, when she was elected women's MP for the greater Kibaale district, to date.

Nabbanja salutes President Yoweri Museveni for the trust and mentorship.

Nabbanja promises to champion the implementation of the NRM manifesto that seeks to protect the gains and make a qualitative Leap into the high middle-income status for all Ugandans.

Fred Byamukama, the state minister for Transport and Bugangaizi West Member of Parliament, was also nominated.

Byamukama pledges to focus on promoting and improving household income for his electorate, which is a key component of the NRM manifesto.

Meanwhile, Prof. George William Lubega, the NRM flag-bearer for Bugangaizi South constituency, was also nominated and promised to go by the NRM manifesto.
