Umoja Wa Amani Kwanza champions patriotism

The Umoja Wa Amani Kwanza, a non-governmental organisation with its headquarters in Tanzania has intensified the patriotism and peace campaign in the midst of a wave of emigration in the East African region.

The delegation from the organisation, drummed up the importance of patriotism and pan-Africanism in fostering unity and dismantling barriers to opportunities during a conference held at Florida Hotel, Zana in Kampala on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

The conference aimed at amplifying President Yoweri Museveni’s message of patriotism and peace, attracted distinguished guests from Uganda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Lisa Stark Hughes from US, who graced the occasion, emphasised the immense economic potential within Africa and stressed the role of patriotism and collaboration in unlocking this growth.

Pastor Robert Mbabazi, the national co-ordinator for the team through YKM Kira House ignited the audience with his impassioned speech on the potential of the East African Community (EAC).

Citing impressive statistics, Mbabazi underscored the strategic significance of revitalising the EAC for renewed prosperity.

Ambassador Abbey Walusimbi, the Special Presidential Advisor on diaspora affairs, announced the establishment of a diaspora desk within UWK, reaffirming Uganda’s dedication to EAC integration.

Walusimbi highlighted the substantial benefits of integration, emphasising its role in facilitating trade and fostering economic growth across the EAC member states.

The conference concluded with a sense of inspiration and empowerment as attendees pledged to carry forward the spirit of unity and positivity instilled by the event.

Senior commissioner of Police (SCP) and the Uganda Police Force chief political commissar (CPC) Hadija Namutebi encapsulated the sentiment, urging individuals to embrace love and passion as catalysts for collective progress.

As Uganda navigates its path forward, events like the Umoja Wamani Kwanza conference serve as a reminder of the transformative power of collaboration and shared purpose in shaping a brighter future.

The organisation started in 2015 with its aims based on development, patriotism, Pan Africanism and Peace.

The organisation has also developed branches in different countries in Africa including Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, South Africa and many more African countries.

In Uganda, it started last year, and has been registered with Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).

Chantal Kayitesi is the head of the Uganda chapter that has been launched.
