He said the renewed relationship between Lango and the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom presents an opportunity to deepen reconciliation, cultural ties and development efforts, noting that the two communities share historical ancestry.

“This visit is very significant,” he said.

He added that relations between the Lango and Bunyoro Kitara kingdoms had been revitalised through renewed intercultural cooperation, with unity movements and collaboration tracing back to the colonial era.

The paramount chief also urged the Lango community in Bunyoro Kitara kingdom to work together, coexist peacefully with other tribes and prioritise education for their children.

"I believe intermarriage occurs among the Lango and Bunyoro Kingdom; let us stay in harmony," he said.

He noted that the relationship between the two cultural institutions dates back many years, but stressed that unity and peace must continue to prevail.

Okune also commended President Yoweri Museveni for promoting economic growth through projects such as the Karuma hydropower station, road infrastructure and the Parish Development Model (PDM).

He further applauded the paramount chief of Acholi, Davi Onen Acana II, and the paramount chief of Alur, Phillip Olaroker Ubimo, for their leadership. During the visit, he also toured the Karuma hydropower station.
