Police in Bulambuli District are holding a woman and her daughter in connection with the alleged murder of a 56-year-old man whose body was found with severe burns at his home.

The deceased identified as Justin Wanasolo, a resident of Tubana Cell in Bulambuli Town Council is alleged to have been killed during the night of August 12, 2026.

Police said Wanasolo was reportedly burnt to death by unknown people at his residence.

"However, following preliminary investigations, detectives arrested his wife, Emily Namataka, and their daughter, Deborah Nadunga, to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death," the police report said.

The case was registered at Bulambuli Central Police Station under reference number CRB 375/2026.

According to police, a report was made and a team of officers from Bulambuli Central Police Station visited the scene together with the Scene of Crime Officer, who documented the scene and collected relevant evidence.

Police said Wanasolo was found lying face down on a new mattress in the sitting room. "He had sustained severe burns and was wearing burnt trousers but had no shirt," the Police report said.

Investigators also observed signs of burning around the home, particularly in the area where the deceased was believed to have been attacked.

Police further established that the home was occupied by Wanasolo's wife and young children at the time of the incident.

The children were reportedly found locked inside one of the rooms where they normally sleep, while the master bedroom was open and showed no signs of a break-in.

The body was later transported to Muyembe Health Centre IV, where a postmortem examination was conducted before it was handed over to relatives for burial.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish what exactly happened on the night Wanasolo died and the circumstances linking the two suspects to the alleged offence.

Wanasolo reportedly had his original home in upper Bulambuli but had recently relocated to lower Bulambuli, where he had started resettling with his family.

The arrest of the wife and daughter is part of the ongoing investigation, and police said further inquiries will be conducted to establish the motive and circumstances surrounding the death.
