Parliament has postponed its scheduled sitting initially set for Tuesday, July 22, 2025, afternoon to allow Members of Parliament (MPs) to continue participating in ongoing political party primaries.

Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige had earlier issued a notice summoning MPs for the July 22 sitting, acting on the instructions of Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa. However, in a follow-up communication, Mwesige announced the postponement of the sitting to Tuesday, July 29, 2025. No order paper had been shared.

The postponement comes amid heightened political activity across the country, as several MPs seek re-election and are actively engaged in campaigns in respective party primaries. The move is intended to ensure full participation and quorum when the House reconvenes to handle critical national matters.

It remains unclear whether the postponed sitting will prioritise pending legislative business or introduce new items to the order paper.
