WOMEN'S | DAY | CELEBRATIONS
KIRUHURA - Kiruhura district has been selected to host the International Women’s Day tomorrow, March 8, 2023, celebrations in Uganda because of the ongoing construction of the proposed National Science Technology Engineering and Innovation Centre (NSTEIC) located at Rwebiteete village, gender ministry permanent secretary has said.
Aggrey David Kibenge, in a letter to Kiruhura chief administrative officer Charles Nsubuga Kiberu, says, “This construction is in line with this year’s national theme: Equal Opportunities In Education, Science and Technology for Innovation and a Gender Equal Future".
Kibenge, in the letter dated January 4, 2023, directed the CAO to embark on preparations to ensure the smooth celebration of the day.
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to lay the foundation stone for the centre, which undergoing construction with support from the People’s Republic of China and the Government of Uganda. On completion, the centre is expected to be a training-for-innovation platform that will enhance the technological and innovative base of Ugandans through innovation and design hubs that will act as flexible learning workshops/factories.
The institute is expected to be an internationally acclaimed centre of excellence in the areas of design, development and manufacturing of quality tools and components, skills development and upgradation plus project consultancy.
It is also expected to contribute to the promotion of growth and development of technology start-ups and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises through technology and skilled manpower support along the skills value chain.
