 THE PRESIDENCY WEEK IN REVIEW

 January 27 - 31

President Yoweri Museveni spent most his last week in Lango sub-region in Uganda's north. But before heading there, he started off by hosting the British High Commissioner, Lisa Chesney, with their discussion at State House revolving around mutual diplomatic interests and ties. He also held a similar meeting with the US Ambassador, William W. Popp.

On Tuesday, the President and the First Lady and Minister of Education & Sports, Janet Museveni, headed to Lango to resume the Parish Development Model (PDM) assessment tours in that part of the country.

The following day, they laid the foundation stone for the construction of Akii-Bua Olympic Stadium in Lira city, which is expected to host AFCON 2027 games in a tournament Uganda will co-host with neighbours Kenya and Tanzania.

Later on Wednesday, while still in Lango, Museveni attended a virtual meeting of East African Community (EAC) leaders to discuss the situation in neighbouring DR Congo. Then on Thursday, he addressed a public rally in Alebtong district.

On Friday, the President wrapped up his Lango tour by laying a wreath in honour of the victims of the Barlonyo massacre that occurred during the LRA war. Shortly after, he commissioned the Barlonyo Health Centre III.
