Unconfirmed reports indicate that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
First responders at the scene included the local community, who worked with police to retrieve the injured from the wreckage.

The community, together with the police, broke the bus window through which they passed to rescue the students screaming for help.

Kiiza stated that they are in search of a bus driver who abandoned the conductor, students and teachers on the bus.

“It remains unclear whether Exodus School and the bus operator adhered to the official safety guidelines for school transport. Investigations have kicked off, and we shall keep you posted,” Kiiza added.
