Vice President-designate Jessica Alupo and Prime Minister-designate Robinah Nabbanja are expected to be approved by Parliament on Thursday, May 28, at 2:00 pm.
The two leaders were reappointed to their respective positions by President Yoweri Museveni as part of the newly announced Cabinet.
According to a communication issued to Members of Parliament by the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, the approval session will be conducted in line with Article 108(2) of the Constitution, which provides that the Vice President and Prime Minister are appointed by the President with the approval of Parliament by a simple majority.
The sitting will be chaired by the newly elected Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oboth Oboth, marking one of the first major assignments of the 12th Parliament.
Alupo and Nabbanja are both set to begin their second term in the influential offices. They were first approved by the 11th Parliament on June 14, 2021, during a sitting chaired by the late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, who later passed away after serving for about one and a half years in office.
Upon approval, the two leaders are expected to take their oath of office over the weekend at State House Entebbe, before officially resuming their duties.
The House is also expected to designate members to the Standing Committee on Appointments in accordance with Rule 165 of the Rules of Procedure.
It is this committee, chaired by the Speaker, that will begin vetting ministers who were appointed on May 26, 2026.
