'Committed to duty': Cabinet appointees pledge loyalty, service

Ministers appointed to President Yoweri Museveni’s new 2026–2031 Cabinet have pledged loyalty, hard work and improved service delivery following the release of the new government line-up announced on May 26, 2026.

The new Cabinet combines retained ministers, redeployments and fresh appointments across key government sectors, with Jessica Alupo retained as Vice President and Robinah Nabbanja reappointed Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business in Parliament.

Shortly after the announcement, several ministers took to their official X platforms to thank President Museveni for the appointments while promising commitment to service delivery and national transformation.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja described her reappointment as a humbling opportunity to continue serving the country under President Museveni’s leadership.

“I pledge continued commitment, cooperation, and teamwork during this ‘No More Sleep’ term as we accelerate the socio-economic transformation of our country,” Nabbanja posted.

She also congratulated ministers who were newly appointed and reappointed, while thanking First Lady Janet Museveni, Members of Parliament and Cabinet colleagues for their support during the previous term.

Peter Ogwang, who retained his position as State Minister for Sports, said he was grateful to have once again earned the confidence of the appointing authority.

“With profound humility, I thank President Museveni for reappointing me,” Ogwang posted, pledging continued support for government programmes aimed at transforming Uganda through education and sports.

He also praised Janet Museveni for mentorship and guidance during his previous years at the Ministry of Education and Sports.

Former Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng, who was reassigned to head the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, described her appointment as an honour and thanked the President for the confidence placed in her.

“I commit to continue serving diligently,” Aceng said after reflecting on her decade-long tenure at the Health Ministry.
Newly appointed State Minister for Internal Affairs Lawrence Muganga said he understood the magnitude of the responsibility entrusted to him.

“My focus will be simple and clear: to help keep our people safe, to protect peace in our country, and to serve Uganda with all the energy and care I have,” Muganga wrote.

At the Energy Ministry, Monica Musenero pledged to bring integrity, innovation and commitment to her new role as Minister of Energy and Mineral Development.

“As I move to this new sector, I bring the same energy, focus, commitment to integrity and innovativeness,” Musenero said.

Meanwhile, Katumba Wamala, who was appointed Minister of Public Service, thanked President Museveni for the opportunity to continue serving Uganda.

“I remain committed to duty, service, and our country’s progress,” Katumba posted.
New Foreign Affairs Minister Adonia Ayebare also pledged loyalty and dedication in advancing Uganda’s foreign policy interests and diplomatic relations across the region and globally.

“I remain fully committed to advancing Uganda’s foreign policy objectives, safeguarding our national interests, and strengthening our diplomatic relations,” Ayebare stated.

At the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Henry Tumukunde described his appointment as both an honour and a call to national duty.

“I accept this responsibility with gratitude, a profound sense of duty, and full commitment to serving our country,” Tumukunde said.

The ministry also received Lakisa Mercy Faith as State Minister for Youth and Children’s Affairs, with the youthful legislator pledging to help shape the future of Uganda’s young people.

Relief and Disaster Preparedness Minister Lillian Aber, who retained her position in the Office of the Prime Minister, promised to continue prioritising vulnerable communities during emergencies and disasters.

“I pledge to serve our beloved nation with utmost dedication, compassion, and relentless commitment,” Aber posted.

Also reacting to his appointment was Haruna Kasolo, named State Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Affairs.

Kasolo pledged to strengthen Uganda’s regional cooperation and diplomatic engagement, describing the appointment as a call to greater service, dedication and patriotism.

The ministers’ reactions reflected gratitude, loyalty and renewed commitment to implementing government programmes as President Museveni begins another five-year term in office.
