VP Alupo in Russia, to address federation parliament

Vice-President Maj. (rtd) Jessica Alupo has landed in Moscow, Russia, on a four-day official visit.

Upon arrival at Domodedovo International Airport, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Alupo was met by the First Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee, Audrey Ivanovich Denisov, Uganda's Ambassador to Russia, Moses Kizige, the Private Principal Secretary to the Office of the Vice-President, Alex Okello and other dignitaries.

She is accompanied by ministers Gen. Abubaker Jeje Odongo (foreign affairs), Gen. Jim Muhwezi (security) and Rose Lilly Akello (ethics and integrity).

Alupo's visit followed a special invitation by the Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko.

The Federation Council is the upper house of the Russian Parliament.

During her visit, Alupo, also Katakwi district Woman MP, is expected to hold bilateral discussions with Matviyenko and subsequently address a plenary session of the Federation Council on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

She's also scheduled to visit various historical sites in Russia, including but not limited to the culture of the Museum-Reserves, Moscow Kremlin(Cathedral Square, Diamond Fund, Armoury).

Alupo will also visit Alexander Gardens, where she's expected to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Kremlin Wall.

The Moscow Kremlin Wall is a defensive wall that surrounds the Moscow Kremlin, recognisable by the characteristic notches and its Kremlin towers.

She will also hold meetings with special representatives of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa and with the deputy minister for foreign affairs of the Russian Federation, M.L. Bogdanov.

The Vice President is also scheduled to visit the Zaryadye Park interactive attraction, "Flight Over Russia," and take part in an excursion around the park.

The VP will also walk on the Patriarch's bridge (a pedestrian bridge connecting the territory of the temple Christ the Saviour and Prechistenskaya Embankment).
