Koboko West Division in Koboko Municipality is grappling with the challenge of managing the old abattoir following the relocation of the livestock market to Lomutu cell in the same division.

Despite the move, several vendors have continued to operate at the old abattoir site, defying the relocation directive.

The chairperson of Koboko West Division, Joseph Wani Elly, shed light on the ongoing situation.

Meanwhile, Patrick Ogweng, the town clerk of Koboko Municipality, has issued a stern warning to those still conducting business at the condemned facility.

He said their activities are illegal and urged them to vacate the premises immediately.

However, Ismael Ali, the Local Council I chairperson of Injirigo cell, where the old abattoir is located, claims there had been a proposal to renovate the facility for street vendors to operate from.

According to Ali, this plan was rejected by the town clerk.

On average, Koboko West Division generates approximately sh4 million per month in local revenue from the abattoir.
