He urged the Acholi community to continue working with the government and to embrace its programmes aimed at fighting poverty.

Otema, who urged newly elected leaders in the Acholi to unite and support government programmes  pledged  to support government in distribution of coffee and Hass avocado seedlings  to fight household poverty in the region.

Similarly, the 4th Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Felix Busizoori commended the Acholi community for rallying support behind the NRM government.

“With the high percentage of votes President Museveni has received in Acholi, I know he is a kind and honest leader who will consider Acholi Sub-region as special. Believe me, the President is going to do something for the people of Acholi,” Busizoori said.

Busizoori noted that the current government has delivered significant development, which explains why the people voted massively for Museveni and his government.

“I have seen good tarmac roads, improved healthcare systems, education, and rural electrification. All these are efforts of the NRM government. This kind of development should not be overlooked or destroyed. The NRM has worked for it for forty years,” he said.
