KAMPALA - The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, commended defence attachés and advisors accredited to Uganda for their role in promoting defence diplomacy and building stronger military partnerships.
During a routine security briefing at the Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS) headquarters in Mbuya, Brig Gen Paddy Ankunda, the Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security for Defence Engagement and International Affairs, told the attaches that such engagements help review progress and create opportunities for greater cooperation.
“Your work continues to strengthen the bonds of friendship and strategic collaboration that unite our nations,” Brig Gen Ankunda said at the meeting while representing Maj Gen Richard Otto, the Chief of DIS.
According to the UPDF media release, Ankunda reaffirmed the UPDF’s commitment to advancing national security through defence diplomacy and underscored the vital role of attachés in fostering mutual understanding and shared values among security forces.
On behalf of the Defence Attachés Association, Dean Col Patrick Nkaduda thanked the UPDF leadership for hosting the briefing.
He also expressed hope that this engagement continues as we forge a way forward together.
Several senior and junior UPDF officers, plus accredited defence attachés, attended the meeting.
