The Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has pledged to continue protecting and promoting fundamental human rights and freedoms for sustainable development in Uganda.
Speaking today (October 11) during the closure of the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair, organised by the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala, UHRC commissioner Shifrah Lukwago encouraged Ugandans to continue reporting human rights violations for help.
"We encourage all Ugandans to continue reporting human rights violations to the Commission through our toll-free numbers and contact details," Lukwago said.

The Commission used the platform to bring its services closer to citizens, raise awareness of its mandate, and educate Ugandans on their fundamental rights and freedoms and distributed educational materials.
Commissioners and senior staff, including Lukwago, acting Secretary Kamadi Byonabye, and acting director finance Dennis Kakeeto, also engaged the public at the stall during the course of the exhibition.
Visitors expressed appreciation for UHRC’s work, including the translation of the Bill of Rights (Chapter 4 of the 1995 Constitution) into local languages such as Luganda.
