Uganda Police Force has announced solving the nightmares of a Constable with the biggest feet.

It is reported that since joining the Uganda Police Force, Probationer Police Constable Jovian Olepus had faced persistent difficulties in finding fitting police shoes due to his unusually large foot size.

On Thursday, the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering announced that it has resolved PPC Olepus' long-standing shoe size challenge.

"In a touching gesture aimed at improving officers’ welfare and well-being, the Directorate of Logistics and Engineering today handed over two specially made pairs of shoes, size 17, to No. 82378 PPC Jovian Olepus, attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit in Napak District, " reads a statement issued on social media X.

With the unusually large foot size, the police said it was a big challenge, which also affected Olepus' comfort while executing daily duties.

Accompanied by his father,  Olepus received two pairs of shoes from AIGP James Apora, the Director of Logistics and Engineering. The ceremony took place at the Directorate headquarters in Kampala.

Speaking during the handover, AIGP Apora noted that the officer’s case became one of the most unique welfare concerns the Directorate had encountered, prompting a special order to be made to ensure the officer is fully facilitated to serve comfortably and effectively.

“His case opened our eyes to the need for advance planning in handling special welfare requirements for officers. I thank him for remaining patient and never feeling neglected by the Force,”  said Apora.

The release adds that the UPF management prioritises the welfare of officers, emphasising that every officer deserves dignity, support, and proper facilitation while serving the country.

Close sources state that for PPC Olepus, the delivery of the custom-made shoes was more than just receiving footwear; it was a reminder that the institution values and cares for its personnel.

A study shows that a man's size 17 foot is considered very big. It is significantly larger than the average, often requiring specialised retailers or online shopping to find suitable footwear. These shoes are frequently found on individuals who are quite tall.

Studies also state that causes of big feet are a combination of genetic, developmental, and environmental factors. While rare, having very large feet is typically a result of the body's structure developing to support a larger frame or natural changes over time.
