Top officials from the Uganda Police Force’s Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Egyptian Police have held talks to strengthen co-ordination in criminal investigations between the two countries.
The meeting at the CID headquarters in Kibuli, Kampala on September 9, 2025, involved a delegation of six officials from the Egyptian Police and was led by Brig. Gen. Ahmed Youssry Mohamed Hashem.
A brief statement from the CID says the officials paid a courtesy call on its director, Assistant Inspector General of Police Tom Magambo, as part of their ongoing country visit to the Uganda Police Force.
“During the meeting, they discussed a range of issues of mutual interest aimed at strengthening co-ordination in criminal investigations between Egypt and Uganda,” the statement shared on X, formerly Twitter, adds.
Last month, Egyptian foreign affairs minister Dr Badr Abdelatty told New Vision Online in an exclusive interview that they were exploring new ways of deepening ties with Uganda.
He made the remarks when he made a state visit to Uganda and met President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Entebbe.
“I am delighted to be here for the fourth time. My visit reflects the depth of our historical ties that bind our two brotherly countries. We value the ties and seek to deepen them across all fields,” he said at Serena Hotel in Kampala.
Abdelatty noted that the two countries need to do more for their cooperation based on a win-win situation.
“We would like to focus more and more on economic investment and trade. This is the most important issue now because we have an excellent political relationship but when it comes to economic relationship, it does not meet this excellent level. So, that is why I am here to explore new avenues for expanding our relationship,” he said.
The minister also said they have “an excellent military-to-military cooperation” with Uganda that includes fighting terrorism.
