Ugandans spend 33.5% of their income on rent — Report
Findings revealed that the average monthly rent is around sh233,500, which takes up about 33.5% of a household’s income. “This is higher than the recommended level of 30%, by the United Nations Habitat, meaning that rent is generally unaffordable for many households,” Betty Namazzi, the EOC’s senior monitoring and evaluation officer, said while presenting the findings.
Rental houses: A large proportion of the population, about 60% lives in inadequate or informal housing.
