Ugandan chef Dorcus Bashebah Kirabo (Dorcus B Kay) aka Mama D is scheduled to attempt to break the current Guinness World Record for Longest Cooking Marathon by an Individual on December 23, 2023.

During an interview with The Kampala Sun at the Vision Group head office in Kampala on December 12, Mama D, known for her meals on wheels, where she prepares food for clients and delivers it to them, said she was inspired to break the Guinness record due to the abundance of traditional foods in Uganda and her desire to showcase them on a world stage.

"My purpose is to be an ambassador for the wonderful and diverse cuisine of Uganda. My strategy is to cook different courses from the various regions of Uganda, my country, the pearl of Africa," she said.

Mama D will attempt to defeat the current record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher.

Fisher shattered the record for the longest cooking marathon, ousting the previous record holder, Nigerian Hilda Baci.

If Mama D wins this attempt, she will join other Ugandan Guinness World Recorder holders like Raymond Kahuma, who made the largest rolex (chapati and rolled eggs), weighing 204.6kgs in 2021; King Oyo as the youngest reigning monarch; the 1976 Shortest Hostage Rescue by Israelis at the Entebbe Airport, Joshua Cheptegei, the world 10,000 metre fastest runner who clocked 26 minutes 11 seconds in Spain in 2020.
