Hon. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has held a meeting with Mehmet Fatih Ak, ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kampala.
Discussions in Kampala on April 13 centred on strengthening bilateral ties between Uganda and Türkiye, with a particular focus on deepening economic cooperation and people-to-people ties. Both sides emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing shared challenges and advancing mutual interests.

A release from the ministry states that Odongo confirmed his upcoming participation in the International Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Türkiye, later this week, where he will also meet his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.
“Relations between the Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Turkiye remain strong. I intend to meet Foreign Minister Fidan while in Antalya to have discussions on how to further strengthen our historical bilateral ties,” said Odongo.
The release states that Ambassador Ak reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to deepening its partnership with Uganda, especially in the areas of education and infrastructure development. He highlighted the need for continued engagement between the two countries to foster sustainable development.
Both parties agreed to maintain regular dialogue to ensure the progress of ongoing initiatives and explore new avenues for cooperation that would benefit both nations and contribute to regional peace.
