Gen. Jeje Odongo holds talks with Venezuela ambassador Juarez

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to South-South cooperation and pledged to maintain ongoing diplomatic and technical dialogue.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeje Odongo Abubaker, has held a meeting with Ambassador Fatima Yeseina Fernandez Juarez of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Uganda.

The meeting on Tuesday (April 14) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and Venezuela, with discussions centred on advancing cooperation in key sectors including oil and gas, energy, mining, agriculture, petrochemicals, and research and development.

A media handout from the minister's office states that both parties reaffirmed their commitment to South-South cooperation and pledged to maintain ongoing diplomatic and technical dialogue. They resolved to convene the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) soon to formalise and scale up cooperation.

Ambassador Fernandez expressed Venezuela's readiness to share technical expertise in upstream production, refining, and petrochemical development.

They both appreciated the existing cooperation and look forward to further high-level engagements during the upcoming swearing-in ceremony in May 2026.
