Ugandan diplomats used the 64th Independence Anniversary celebrations in Beijing to strengthen economic diplomacy, deepen bilateral relations with China and position Uganda as an attractive destination for investment, trade and tourism.

The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda, Beijing, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Uganda, in Guangzhou, jointly hosted a reception on October 17, at the China World Summit Wing Hotel in Beijing, bringing together members of the diplomatic corps, senior Chinese Government officials, the Ugandan diaspora and private sector representatives from Uganda and China to celebrate Uganda’s independence, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The reception placed particular emphasis on Uganda’s investment potential, in line with this year’s anniversary theme of “Sustained Growth and Investment for National Transformation.”

The theme underscores Uganda’s ambition to accelerate economic transformation by mobilising investment, expanding productive capacity and strengthening strategic partnerships.
