Makerere University salvaged a point away at St. Lawrence to remain top of Group D as the Pepsi University Football League raged on Monday.

Owemugisha Bahinguzi's 82nd-minute strike cancelled out St. Lawrence’s Michael Abura’s 40-minute effort to force the draw in a match played at the Crown City Campus, Kavule.

Makerere remains top of the group on 7 points, two more than St. Lawrence, with each side having played three games to date.

The top two teams from the group that also has YMCA (2pts) and Mbarara University Science of Technology (MUST) (1pt) will advance to the knockout stage.

On Sunday, Amos Twinoweitu scored the all-important goal as Bishop Stuart University (BSU) earned its first win in the Pepsi University Football League at the Riverside Sports ground in Mbarara on Sunday.

Twinoweitu’s strike from the spot in the 69th minute ensured the win over Kabale University in the end-to-end encounter that saw both sides create a lot of scoring opportunities.

The victory takes Bishop Stuart to second place in Group C with 3 points, one adrift of leaders Kyambogo University who are on 4pts after two games. BSU lost 3-0 to Kyambogo in their opening fixture. Kabale remains bottom of the table with one point picked from their draw with table leaders Kyambogo.

Only the top team from this group after the group stages will qualify for the knockout.

Action will return on Wednesday with Ndejje entertaining Gulu in Luweero.
