The Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations have today, November 21, 2022, kicked off without any remarkable incidents, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has said.

"The UACE has successfully started and candidates throughout the country are writing their first papers: economics and chemistry practical," UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule Musamba mentioned in a statement today, November 21, 2022.

A total of 97,890 candidates are sitting the examinations at 2,255 examination centres countrywide. Of these, 57,177 (58%) of the candidates are male.

Musamba said a total of 17,319 candidates are sponsored by the government under the Universal Post O'level education programme.

The examinations are being conducted under the theme: Integrity and Security in the Management of Examinations: The Health and Safety of Learners is a Joint Responsibility.

Sunday, November 20, UNEB executive secretary Dan Odongo appealed to the S6 candidates to follow their schools' regulations and be disciplined during examinations.

He warned that being a candidate does not absolve a student from following school regulations.

“UNEB will neither be involved nor sympathies with a candidate in a case where such a candidate is subjected to disciplinary measures on account of indiscipline,” he said.

Odongo encouraged the candidates to be calm, confident, follow instructions and pray for divine intervention and guidance as they sit for their examinations.
