When did you last hear of someone being banished from a village?

I'm sure it has been a while if at all you have heard of such stories.

Well, news reaching New Vision Online indicates that two women have been banished from Cubu A & B cells of Gulu city's Laroo-Pece division over allegations of stealing from worshippers at places of worship.

Pamela Akello, 32, and Monica Adong, 26, all hailing from Agago district, were banished by the residents over the weekend following last month’s incident where Akello was found with:

36 women handbags

Eight smartphones

Seven basic phones

12 national IDs

13 ATM cards

27 SIM cards

All the above items are believed to have been stolen from churchgoers.

Walter Omona Kato, the Cubu A & B Cell chairperson, revealed that all property owners in the area have been ordered not to allow the duo to rent their property.

Akello, who accepted her wrongdoing, asked for forgiveness, saying she steals people’s property to look after her three children since she is raising them single-handedly.
