Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe has begun his visit to Uganda, having arrived on Friday.

He was welcomed at Entebbe International Airport by Ugandan officials led by security minister Gen. Jim Muhwezi.

Others were Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi (Chief of Defence Forces), AIGP Christopher Damulira (director of Police's Crime Intelligence) and Samuel Akena (deputy Prisons chief).

The visiting president then proceeded to State House Entebbe, where he was welcomed by his host, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

'Deep discussions'

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed the security situation in West Africa, among other matters.

Museveni and Gnassingbe later briefed the delegations, where they both highlighted the need for Uganda and Togo to come together and share experiences if they are to overcome challenges faced by all African countries.

Museveni wished his Togolese counterpart a pleasant stay in Uganda.

On his part, Gnassingbe thanked Museveni for being available to share his experiences in as far as security and governance is concerned.

“I came to hold deep discussions with President Museveni on matters of security and terrorism and how we can combine efforts in dealing with the challenges”, he said.

Museveni later hosted Gnassingbe and his delegation to a dinner at State House.
