WAKISO - Police in Wakiso have arrested three suspects in connection with a spate of motorcycle robberies and recovered 10 suspected stolen motorcycles during an intelligence-led operation.

Racheal Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said the suspects were arrested after one of the victims, Equiam Ssesanga, reported a case of aggravated robbery involving his motorcycle, registration UMA 191 DV (Bajaj Boxer), on February 13, 2026.

“The attackers, allegedly armed with pangas, forcefully robbed him of the motorcycle. The suspects were arrested from Old Kampala, Bukesa–Nankulabye, where 10 suspected stolen motorcycles were also recovered,” Kawala said.

She revealed that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to involvement in motorcycle robberies, highway phone snatching, house breaking, theft and related criminal activities.

“The recovered motorcycles include: UDH 516H; UGB 248V; UEV 046C; UDH 746H; UDK 657F; UDN 001C; four numberless Bajaj motorcycles.”

Kawala said investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The arrest of the trio comes in the wake of another police operation conducted earlier in the week across Greater Kampala, during which more than 500 suspects were arrested.

On February 23, 2026, police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said, "between Monday, February 16 and Sunday, February 22, 2026, security agencies conducted intensive, intelligence-led operations across Kampala Metropolitan and upcountry regions, resulting in the arrest of 1,095 suspects linked to burglary, aggravated robbery, narcotics, street mugging and other crimes."

Kituuma said, "The operations targeted blackspots, criminal hideouts and narcotics hubs, and led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and other exhibits, while also rescuing victims and responding to emergency calls from the public".
