Three arrested as police recover two children kidnapped from Njeru
"Police, working jointly with sister security agencies, have arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping of two children from Bujowali Zone, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District on September 17th 2026,” Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke revealed on Thursday.
Kituuma said the assailants allegedly injured the domestic workers as they raised an alarm, confined them in a bedroom, and fled with two of the children.

BUIKWE - Police on Thursday, September 17th, confirmed the arrest of three suspects and recovered two children kidnapped from Bujowali Zone, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District.
"Police, working jointly with sister security agencies, have arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping of two children from Bujowali Zone, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District on September 17th 2026,” Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke revealed on Thursday.
He said the suspects include Richard Odongo Derick Nkuruziza and Dan Kasaija, who had allegedly been receiving and withdrawing ransom money in Kampala.
A firearm, suspected to have been used in the kidnap was recovered during the operation has also been recovered.

Kituuma said the kidnapping happened on September 7, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m., when two armed and masked men allegedly attacked the home of a one-year-old Mugabanya in Bujowali Zone while he was away.
"The children were reportedly watching television under the care of domestic workers at the time," he added.
Kituuma said the assailants allegedly injured the domestic workers as they raised an alarm, confined them in a bedroom, and fled with two of the children.
"The kidnappers later allegedly demanded a ransom of UGX 100 million," he said.
