Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe has made reforms in the diocesan clergy in a major restructuring since he was installed the sixth Anglican Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese in Uganda's southwest.
The changes were announced on Friday during a diocesan council meeting held at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyasano in Rukungiri district.
The diocesan secretary, Rev. Enock Karamuzi, has been moved to Nyabitete as archdeacon. He has been replaced by Rev Canon Erick Beingana Mugyenzi, who has been working as dean of Emmanuel Cathedral.
"These are normal routine changes that occur in all churches every year and we have made changes without any malice but to promote the word of God," said Bishop Asiimwe.
The diocesan secretary is the top administrative position in the diocese.
In the new changes, Rev. Benson Akankwasa and Rev. Dickens Baguma have been elevated to the level of archdeacon and transferred to Buhunga and Nyakisoroza, respectively.
Baguma and Akankwasa have been the parish priests of Nyakaine Church of Uganda and Kitazigurukwa Church of Uganda, respectively.
In other changes, Ven. Amatsiko Niwegariho has been moved from Rujumbura Archdeaconry at All Saints Church to take up the role of the dean at Emmanuel Cathedral.
Niwegariho has been succeeded by Ven. Dickson Kakanyisa, formerly the archdeacon of Bwanga.
Ven. Capt. Jaron Atusinguza has been transferred from Nyabitete to Rubirizi Archdeaconry in Nyarushanje sub-county.
Rev. Lamech Muramuzi has been relocated from Besania Prayer Mountain to All Saints Church Nyakariro Church of Uganda in Bugangari sub-county.
Rev. Collins Tugatungire was previously the diocesan treasurer and has now been assigned as chaplain of Kisizi Hospital.
Rev. Ronald Natuhwera, formerly the diocesan estates manager, now assumes the role of diocesan Father’s Union co-ordinator. He was succeeded by Alex Mugabe, who is also the mayor of Kebison town council.
