Police in Kasese are investigating the murder of a 17-year-old boy whose body was discovered inside his home in Kasojo Cell, Kisenyi Ward, Hima Town Council.
The deceased has been identified as Wisborna Bwambale, a resident of Kasojo Cell.
According to police, Bwambale returned home at about 1:00 am on September 20 and knocked on the door. The door was opened by Reagan Turyasingura, 10, with whom he was staying, before the two went to sleep.
Bwambale was found dead later that morning when a colleague, with whom he had been making chapatis, went to wake him up.
The matter was reported to police by the area chairperson, John Bato, prompting detectives to visit and document the scene.

The body was retrieved and taken to Kasese Municipal Health Centre for a postmortem examination.
Preliminary findings indicate that Bwambale could have been killed outside the house and his body taken inside before the door was bolted from outside. Police said no one in the neighbourhood reported hearing any disturbance.
Detectives have since opened inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder, including the motive and those responsible.
Students recover body
Meanwhile, Police in Nabilatuk District are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man whose body was recovered by students on their way to school.
The deceased was identified as Joseph Loumo, a peasant and resident of Natirae village in Natirae sub-county.
According to police, the students were walking to school on Sunday morning, September 20, 2026, when they discovered Loumo’s body in a garden, about one kilometre from his home.
Police officers responded to the scene, documented it and conveyed the body to Nabilatuk Health Centre IV, where a postmortem examination was conducted.
The body was subsequently handed over to the deceased’s relatives for burial.
Police have registered a case of suspected murder at Lolachat sub-county Police Station, while inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
Murder statistics
According to the 2025 annual crime report released last week, police recorded 4,238 homicide cases in 2025, a slight decrease from 4,329 cases reported in 2024.
The victims included 3,397 adult males, 550 adult females, 173 male juveniles, and 148 female juveniles. Of these, 338 victims were killed through hacking, compared to 310 in 2024.
An analysis of data indicates that the motives behind these killings largely stemmed from land disputes, domestic violence, acts of mob justice, family misunderstandings, crimes of passion and business rivalries.
