All military undertakings require collective responsibilities and teamwork for them to succeed, the commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka in Jinja city says.

The remark was one of the several tips which Maj. Gen. George Igumba shared with the 50 student army officers as they were ushered in for course intake 19 of 2023/2024 at the college on Wednesday.

Igumba said the students needed to know this even before reporting to the college.

He added that this was among the many tools used to assess them throughout their stay at the college.

“It is a known fact that military undertakings are carried out by teams rather than individuals, which you ought to have been part of in your career, but we shall further develop and practice this treasured attribute,” he said.

He explained how the college was energised by the fact that many of its alumni are occupying high positions in their respective militaries and nations in the region.

Igumba said such confessions should motivate them as they embark on what he termed as ‘an uphill’ of a 46-week command and staff course.

Since the learning environment is conducive, the commandant implored the new entrants to make their academic journey a memorable one by sowing and reaping as much as they could along the way.

The students have been drawn from the East African Community member states and beyond.
