Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a motorcycle reported stolen in Nansana following a coordinated operation at the Zengebe Ferry crossing in Nakasongola district.

The arrest was made on May 29, 2026, by officers from Lwampanga Town Council Police Station working jointly with personnel from the Zengebe Marine Detachment after receiving information about the movement of the suspected stolen motorcycle.

According to Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima, the operation was launched following a tip-off and an incident report registered at Nansana Police under reference number Nansana 06/28/05/2026.

“At about 5:00 p.m., the suspect, whose image had earlier been captured by CCTV cameras, appeared at the ferry while riding the suspected stolen motorcycle. He was immediately intercepted and arrested by the security team,” Twiineamazima said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect was transporting the motorcycle to Kalaki district when he was intercepted by security personnel at the ferry crossing.

Police said the successful arrest followed effective deployment and surveillance mounted by officers after intelligence suggested the suspect would use the ferry route.

The suspect is currently being held at Lwampanga Town Council Police Station pending further investigations.

Twiineamazima commended the officers involved in the operation and urged members of the public to continue sharing information that can help police combat vehicle and motorcycle theft.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
