St Lawrence remained on course to win their fourth consecutive National Beach Soccer League title after finishing the regular season top of the standings.

To finish top with 40 points, they managed to beat rivals Mutoola 7-5 in the top-of-the-table clash plus Jinja Lions 4-2 in the final games of the group on Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Brian Nkuubi who took his tally to 21 goals scored five times against Mutoola before Baker Lukooya added a brace.

In the game against Jinja Lions, Nkuubi continued with his scoring form when he notched a hat trick while Lukooya added the other.

Their coach Davis Nono revealed they still have to work hard in the playoffs.

“Playoffs are tricky. So we need to handle them with a lot of care. The fact that we have won the title in the last three editions means everyone wants to dethrone us,” noted Nono.

St Lawrence is among the four teams that qualified for the playoffs slated for Sunday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru. Others are Mutoola, Jinja Lions, and Ms Sand Lions.

In the playoffs that will be held this Sunday, St Lawrence who have won the title for three consecutive times will battle Ms Sand Lions while Jinja Lions will face Mutoola

Eight teams competed this season in the men’s category and they include; Ms Sand Lions, Buganda Royal Institute, Kiringente, Mutoola, St. Lawrence University, Jinja Lions, Grace Church, and Wolves.

Former champions MUBS, KJT, and KIU were demoted by the competitions committee after failing to honour their games.
