“Each time we receive cases of snake bites, the parents tell us that the children were hunting for rats. They mostly dip their hands in the small holes thinking they are trapping rats, only to be bitten by snakes,” Dr Patrick Odongo said.
Dr Patrick Odongo, the Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital director, said although snake bites are common in West Nile, most lower health facilities have no anti-venoms for the victims.
