SOROTI - Teso Christians have been urged to be corrupt-free and shun adultery and fornication as they mark the resurrection of God’s son Jesus Christ.

In his Easter sermon to a fully parked St. Peter's Cathedral located at the heart of Soroti city, the Anglican bishop Kosea Odongo implored Christians to be exemplary by emulating the teaching of Jesus.

“This is the message to every human being including; the corrupt, thieves, lairs, adulators, fornicators, and all forms of sins that without risen Christ your life would be in a mess, so turn to him and get out of those acts so that God will forgive you and embrace you as his son and daughter,” bishop Odongo said.

With the return of the rains, the prelate encouraged his flock to cultivate crops so that the region would not be in a food crisis.

He said God’s people should not be lacking food because they are provided with free rain to facilitate them to cultivate any number of gardens.

The prayers were attended by the state minister for fisheries Hellen Adoa who asked people to ensure they take part in the upcoming census.

Adoa says that the government allocates resources according to the population of people in the country.

“My district has close to 500,000 but if they do not accept to take part in the census, they will be affected in terms of resource allocation. I kindly urge you, my people of Teso, to ensure we take part in the census.

The enumeration exercise will be held between the 10th to 19th of May. The census is always carried out every ten years with the last census being in 2014 when the country recorded 34.6 million people representing an increase of 10.4 million persons from the 2002 census.
