The Anglican Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, the Rt Rev Moses Banja has asked Christians to remain committed to God regardless of the contemporary socio-economic and moral challenges.

“Today we have many challenges. Bad habits are being promoted in a very attractive way. Yes, many unprecedented things are happening. All we have to do is to stick to God. Let’s listen to the voice of Jesus in all circumstances. We should not be mere listeners but also practical actors of our Christian faith,” Banja said.

Bishop Banja commended the Archdeacon of Gayaza Venerable Dunstan Kiwanuka Mazinga and all the Christians in the affiliate parishes of the archdeaconry for the development projects they are currently implementing. He singled out the proposed new archdeaconry church as one of the huge projects that deserve special appreciation.

In his latter remarks, Banja thanked the Christians of Gayaza Archdeaconry for the prayers and financial support they gave him during his consecration and installation as the 6th Bishop of Namirembe Diocese in December last year. He asked them to work harmoniously with him for the development of the diocese.

As one of the activities for his pastoral visit, Bishop Banja confirmed 280 children (and a few adult Christians) into the Anglican faith.

Earlier before the service, Bishop Banja opened the newly constructed commercial building of Gayaza Church of Uganda Parish. He also toured the new archdeaconry church that is under construction.

During the same function, the archdeaconry’s head of the laity, Geoffrey Kulubya conducted a fundraising exercise during which the Christians raised about shillings 9m for the proposed new Archdeaconry church that is under construction.

Bishop Banja and his wife Prof. Olivia Nassaka Banja contributed shillings one million.
