Seven arrested over murder of woman, looting in Nebbi

According to Nebbi district Police commander Amisi Kayondo, the suspects on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, burnt 57 houses and looted goats, cows, hens and destroyed other properties in the village.

Police in Nebbi have arrested seven people: Three females and four males in connection with the murder of Betty Anewa, 67.

The victim was a resident of Arisi Village, Paidha sub-county in Zombo district.

According to Nebbi district Police commander Amisi Kayondo, the suspects on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, burnt 57 houses and looted goats, cows, hens and destroyed other properties in the village.

Kayondo says Arisi is a village at the border between Nebbi and Zombo districts.



Amisi cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their hands.

He said the suspects will be transferred to Zombo district where the offence was committed and subsequently produced in court.

The 2023 Police annual crime and traffic report show that 4,248 Ugandans were killed which is 205 more from the previous year.
