The western region rugby league enters the semi-final playoff stage with a mouth-watering encounter between Mbarara rivals MUSTangs and the Mbarara Titans the highlight of the weekend’s action.

The two sides face off after the Titans twice beat the Kigezi Silverbacks to put them top of the Ankole group, to go with the MUSTangs’ double loss to the Tooro Lions that saw them finish second in the Buddu group.

While the Tooro Lions are overwhelming favourites against the Kigezi Silverbacks, all eyes will be on the Mbarara derby in the other semifinal.

“It is not going to be an easy game, but we shall go for it like it’s a final because we want to prove our worth in the game in Mbarara,” said Titans captain Asa Muhanguzi.

Muhanguzi made a return from injury in their 47-06 thrashing of the Kigezi Silverbacks over the weekend in Kabale, making three trys and on Saturday, he will be the man to trigger the Titans’ attacks.

The semifinal winners will again meet in the grand finale to determine the regional champions for the 2023 season on a date yet to be named.
