Roofer electrocuted while working in Kisoro

A 40-year-old man died after coming into contact with a live electrical wire while roofing a house in Kisoro district.


Police identified the victim as Cypriano Bwangangira Kagabo, a resident of Kishoro village in Gisorora parish, Nyakabande subcounty.

He had been hired to roof a residential building at Nyiragakoro Trading Centre when the accident occurred on July 23, 2026, at around 5:50 pm.

Neighbours rushed him to Mutolere Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Kigezi Region police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said investigations into the incident were ongoing.

He renewed police appeals for property owners to hire only qualified electricians for wiring and construction-related work involving electricity.
