Rev. Canon Ateirweho is new Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese

Ateirweho  will be consecrated and enthroned as the 6th Bishop on  August 11, 2024, at St Peter's Cathedral, Hoima.

BUNYORO - Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho has been elected the 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Bunyoro Kitara by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda.

Ateirweho was elected Tuesday, April 17, 2024, by the House of Bishops that sat at Daniel Uganda Missional Centre in Lweza.

He will be consecrated and enthroned as the 6th Bishop on  August 11, 2024, at St Peter's Cathedral, Hoima.

Ateirweho's appointment follows the former's (Bishop Samuel Kahuma) retirement due in August this year. 

Ateirweho was born on 24th August 1968 in Hoima Hospital, Hoima District and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour on 5th April 1991. He was ordained Deacon on 5th February 2006 and priested on 23rd July 2006.

He is married to Irene Kobusinge and God has blessed them with 5 Biological Children and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Divinity from Uganda Christian University.

He is currently the Vicar of All Saints Church, Hoima Town Parish in the Diocese of Bunyoro kitara.
