Monsignor Cyprian Ocen of Saint Joseph’s Cathedral Parish in the Gulu Archdiocese has applauded Radio Rupiny and Wan Luo TV for their active participation in church activities and animating Easter Sunday prayers.

Monsignor Ocen said Vision Group has set a good example by supporting the Church in its evangelisation work, and that the involvement of Radio Rupiny and Wan Luo TV demonstrated their commitment to that cause.

“As we work in our different organisations and today, we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us not forget that we belong to the Church and the Church must continue to be evangelised with your support. I thank the management of Radio Rupiny and Wan Luo TV for animating mass today. May God bless your works,” he said.

Patience Trina Giramiya, the promotions officer at Radio Rupiny, said Vision Group is committed to giving back to the Church and to the Christians who are loyal listeners and viewers of their stations, as a way of recognising the Church’s role in spiritual development.

“The little goods we offered today during the mass were to support the work of evangelisation so that we remain very close to the Church, because most of the clients are Christians and this is the only way we can give back to the Church and community,” she said.

She added that the staff of Radio Rupiny and Wan Luo TV value religion because each of them belongs to a particular faith, in line with Vision Group’s core values of integrity and camaraderie.

Joseph Kennedy Lapat Nyero, chairperson of the Catholic Men’s Association at Saint Joseph’s Cathedral Parish, said it was the first time in the history of Radio Rupiny and Wan Luo TV, among other media houses, to participate in animating Easter prayers.

He noted that Vision Group is the only media house currently supporting churches across the Gulu Archdiocese and that their involvement reflects a deep commitment to faith.

“I thank Vision Group for thinking of supporting the Church by joining us on Easter Day. Many people believe that journalists are people who don’t pray, but today we have seen a wonder in the Church. We appreciate their support to the Church,” he said.

Peter Labeja, the station manager at Radio Rupiny, said Easter is a celebration of mankind’s salvation, and that Vision Group was glad to give back to the community it serves.

“We honour the service of the Church and community they give us as one family rooted in faith, and our participation in cleaning the Church and animating Church service on Easter is our way of giving back to the community who are our listeners and viewers,” he noted.

Archbishop Wokorach’s Easter message

The Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, His Grace Raphael Wokorach P’Mony, urged Christians to emulate the suffering of Jesus Christ by supporting the vulnerable in their communities.

Wokorach said that the acts of kindness demonstrated during Lent should continue after Easter, as Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord and strive to do good for those in need.

“The world is torn apart with drunkardness, theft, corruption, abortions and domestic violence, among others, but as we celebrate Easter, we should leave all these practices and live a righteous life as believers,” he said.

He also encouraged Christians who attended Easter Sunday prayers to open their hearts to receive Jesus, who died on the cross for their sins.

“Be happy as you celebrate Easter and avoid evil doing that may ruin your faith like excessive alcohol consumption, fornication and violence at home, so that you remain holy people to resurrect with Jesus,” he added.

He emphasised that the resurrection of the Lord should empower believers to overcome life’s challenges that can draw them away from God.
