Pope Leo XIV has appointed Most Rev. Tomasz Grysa, the titular Archbishop of Rubicon, as the new Apostolic Nuncio (ambassador) to Uganda.
This announcement is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of Nunciate in Mbuya, Fr Georges Kwami Kouwonou.
The 55-year-old Pole has been the pope's ambassador to Madagascar, Seychelles and the Republic of Mauritius and Apostolic Delegate to Comoros and La-Reunion.
Born in October 1970 in Poznań, Grysa was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Poznań on May 25, 1995.
He has a doctorate in Canon Law.
He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 2001, as pontifical representative serving different countries, including Russian Federation, India, Belgium Mexico, Brazil, UN Permanent Mission (New York) Israel and Apostolic Delegation in Jerusalem and Palestine.
In September 2022, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Madagascar and Apostolic Delegate to Comoros and La Reunion.
And later served as apostolic Nuncio to Seychelles in February 2023, before being transferred to Mauritius in March 2023.
He succeeds Archbishop Luigi Bianco, who was transferred the Vatican diplomatic mission of Slovenia and Kosovo last year.
