Police probe mysterious death of Makerere second-year student
According to the university administration, Makerere University Police Station officers responded immediately and have since handed over the investigations to the Wandegeya Homicide Desk and Scene of Crime Officers.

Police have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of Kelvin Charles Kabuye, a Makerere University second-year student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Architecture.
This was after Kabuye's lifeless body was recovered on Monday, September 28, 2026, inside the fence that houses the MTN mast opposite the university Library.
A statement from Makerere University released on September 30, said Kabuye’s body was recovered on campus on Monday, September 28, 2026.
"The body of the deceased was discovered inside the fence that houses the MTN mast opposite the University library. The University security promptly reported the matter to Makerere Police Station," the statement said.

"The cause of death is not known at this time; however, a post-mortem examination has been requested, and investigations remain ongoing. The University is fully cooperating with police,” the University stated.
New Vision Online has learnt that a file referenced as DEF 24/2026 had been opened at Wandegeya Police Station as investigations continue.
By today morning (September 30), the deceased's body had been handed over to the family for burial in Mityana district. (For details, check The New Vision Thursday copy).
