Police investigate assault during Sironko voter education exercise

Police in Sironko District are investigating an assault that occurred during a voter education exercise in Namakago village, Bugwaji parish, Buwasa subcounty.
According to a report filed by area LC1 chairman Rosalind Wakali, 44, tensions arose at around 1:40 pm on July 23, 2026, when an election parish supervisor reached the name of resident Naome Nambozo while reading out the voters' register.
Members of the public objected, arguing that Nambozo was not eligible to vote in the village.

A case has been opened at Buyobo Police Post, and statements have been recorded from witnesses. Following the disruption, voting in the area was postponed.
