The Police are investigating a suspected thief who has turned Kyambogo University into his hunting ground.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a man, yet to be identified, has made it a habit to steal particularly motorcycles of students often parked outside their lecture rooms.

The man who has since been captured by the university’s CCTV footage is currently on the run.

“There is a man who has made it a business to rob Kyambogo university students especially those with motorcycles. He has been seen in different footage stealing motorcycles belonging to students while they are attending lectures or studying in the library,” said Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson.

The stolen motorcycles in question bear the registration numbers UFD 718P, A Bajaj boxer belonging to one Edmond Wangode and UEW 898W belonging to one Allan Asiimwe.

The two motor cycles were stolen on July 15, 2022 and September 12, 2022 respectively outside the university’s central lecture block.

“Our pictures and CCTV footage all point to the same person. We are appealing to members of the public to help us identify this gentleman participating in the theft of all these motorcycles,” Owoyesigyire told journalists during the Monday press briefing.
