Police hunt man over mysterious sex worker death in Nsangi

Police in Nsangi, Wakiso district, were on Wednesday (September 10) searching for a young man in connection with the mysterious death of a sex worker.

The woman, only identified as Patricia, was known to be a commercial sex worker and a resident of Kasenge in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso district.

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, she was seen in the company of Godfrey Muwonge, also known as Kabaka Aperu. The pair were reportedly in affectionate moods, drinking and moving together as if they had been in love for a long time.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the duo was earlier seen on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at one of the nightspots known as Sanyuka Lodge in the early hours of the morning.

It is reported that they walked to the lodge together, where Muwonge paid 10,000 shillings for a single non-self-contained room per night. Lodge staff told police that the pair would go out drinking and later return in the morning to sleep for three nights.

However, on September 9, 2025, the woman was reportedly too intoxicated and in an unstable state. She was unable to speak properly or walk into the room.

“The woman failed to enter the room, and Muwonge was seen trying to help her by applying fast aid. He rushed to buy fresh milk to give her, but when he returned, he found she had passed on,” Onyango explained.

Instead of reporting the matter to the nearby police station, Muwonge fled the scene and is still at large.

The lodge management later alerted police, who arrived to examine the body and record statements from eyewitnesses. Detectives collected some exhibits, including the milk container that Muwonge had brought to assist the dying woman.

The body was taken to the city mortuary for a postmortem examination while police waited for friends and relatives to claim it.

“Nsangi Police Division has opened a death enquiry file to investigate the circumstances surrounding Patricia's death. The postmortem report may provide crucial insights into the cause of death,” Onyango explained.
