KIBOGA - Police in Kiboga are hunting for a 28-year-old man accused of stabbing his lover to death following accusations of infidelity.
According to the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, Lameck Kigozi, the deceased has been identified as Sumaya Natukunda, 25, a resident of Kakunyu C Cell in Bukomero Town Council, Kiboga District.
Police identified the suspect as Usain Serugo, 28, who reportedly accused Natukunda of cheating on him with other men in the village.
“She (Natukunda) was allegedly stabbed to death last night by her lover, with whom they had been staying together in a rented house belonging to Edward Kasozi. Their relationship was characterised by violence arising from mistrust by the man,” Kigozi said.
According to police, on May 27, 2026, the suspect allegedly confiscated the deceased’s cellphone before the couple developed misunderstandings later in the evening.
“At around 7:00pm on Idd day, the deceased left their home with her friend, identified as Shifrah Kyosimire, leaving the suspect behind,” Kigozi narrated.
Police further said that at about 11:00pm, the two women returned home together. Kyosimire reportedly left the deceased knocking at the door before suddenly hearing screams.
“Kyosimire turned back after hearing the deceased crying out for help. Moments later, Natukunda was lying in a pool of blood, lifeless,” Kigozi added.
The matter was immediately reported to the landlord, Kasozi , who alerted police.
“A homicide team from Kiboga, led by the District Criminal Investigations Directorate Officer, visited and documented the scene. A police dog was introduced, and it tracked the suspect’s scent up to the main road,” Kigozi said.
Police said witness statements were recorded while the body of the deceased was taken to Kiboga Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. “Efforts to apprehend the suspect, who is still at large, are ongoing,” Kigozi noted.
